A picnic lunch stop at a roadside home/restaurant ..... we brought out own breads, fruits and such, ordered drinks from the restaurant allowing us to use the tables. Huy and Chin, our bus driver chop up our lunch and serve us!
View of road from behind Chin the driver .... that would be my camera :), after leaving Dalat .... road had been closed for a few days as it was under water! The condition of the road and overall experience rivals, if not trumps the road Brian and I were on five years ago in China on the way to the panda reserve!!! It was unbelievable that they allowed our bus through, but by the time we were on it, there was no turning back ..... you could have heard a pin drop in our bus at various points as we plowed our way through the mud ..... I think we were all praying. When we finally cleared to pavement again after a number of hours, we all cheered and praised Chin who was beyond steady and calm throughout the ridiculous driving conditions!!! We read the paper the next day, and numerous local buses were stuck, one went over the cliff killing several people and stranding the rest .... the roads in the central part of Vietnam are still under varying degrees of flooding. Amazing, but buses still try and chug their way along .....
Various scenes in Dalat .... a beautiful mountain retreat area favored by honeymooners, much like our own Banff :) The air was so clean ..... I was in heaven!! Floating fishing village nearby.

Aaah, martini break with Denise and Pauline in "Saigon Saigon Bar" at the Caravelle, before leaving for Dalat (pictures, as usual, are just a tad out of order :) I get so excited when I finally find a computer that posts quickly rather than the hours long ordeal in some, that I post hodge-podge, paying "no never mind" to any form of chronological order :)
